Scan to Ship Changelog

October 22, 2024

New features:

  • A "Scan History" overlay can be opened from the scan page showing all barcodes scanned, including match status, so far for the current order.
  • When an erroneous barcode is scanned, the scanned barcode now remains on screen for easier diagnosis.

Improvements:

  • UPC-A and EAN-13 barcode interoperability has been improved. Many barcode readers convert EAN-13 barcodes back to a 12 digit North American UPC-A barcode when possible. Scan to Ship will now match those scanned barcodes either a UPC-A or EAN-13 barcode stored in your Shopify account.
  • Standard barcode label format has been updated to additionally support 2 inch wide labels.
  • Missing or incorrect barcodes can now be fixed directly from the scan order page, without leaving the page. Use the "Edit Barcode" option from the line item options drop-down.
  • The orders page is now quicker for users with subscription orders in a "Scheduled" fulfillment state.
  • The displayed number of pending orders is more accurate for shops with a large (>100) number of pending orders.

Bug fixes:

  • Long feedback and error messages are no longer truncated on Shopify mobile app.
  • Fixed issue when searching for product titles containing a "%" character.

  • It's now possible to tag your scanned orders rather than create a fulfilment. A “packed” tag is added to correctly scanned orders and you can find and process those orders as you wish through the Shopify admin. You’ll find the option to tag your order (instead of fulfil) on the order scanning page.

  • Order notes are now editable inline. You won't lose any existing scans when you need to make a quick note on an order.
  • Unpaid for orders are now shown in the orders list (but still excluded from the automatic shipping workflow). This avoids confusion when getting started with Scan to Ship. You can turn off this behaviour and hide all unpaid orders from your Settings page.
  • Bug fix: Fixed a bug that prevented the built-in barcode scanner opening when using Scan to Ship through the Shopify Android mobile app.

The SKU field value of Shopify product variants can now be treated as an additional barcode for the purpose of fufillment scanning. To enable this, make sure the "Treat SKUs as scannable barcodes" checkbox is checked on your Scan to Ship settings page.

  • Both the number of started and unstarted order counts are now shown in the location selection drop-down, making is easier to see the full state of pending order queues.
